Beyond Rafting: Bungee, Gorge Swing & Zip Line at Victoria Falls Bridgeg Post

You've rafted the Zambezi, you've felt the spray of Victoria Falls on your face — and now you're wondering what else this stretch of river gorge has to offer. As it turns out: quite a lot. The Victoria Falls Bridge, suspended over the Batoka Gorge between Zambia and Zimbabwe, has become one of the great adrenaline hubs of Southern Africa, and most of it can be combined with a day of rafting or slotted into your itinerary either side of it.
Here's how the three big ones compare, so you can decide which is worth your time — and your nerve.
A 111-metre free fall off the Victoria Falls Bridge, with the Zambezi churning below and the spray of the Falls visible in the distance — this is the one most people picture when they think "Victoria Falls adrenaline." It's short, intense, and over almost as soon as it starts. If you want one big, unfiltered hit of fear and adrenaline and don't need it to last, this is it.
Where bungee is a straight drop, the Gorge Swing gives you a few seconds of freefall before the rope arcs you into a long, swooping pendulum motion across the gorge. It's arguably more disorienting than bungee in the first second, and more exhilarating after it — you get a genuine sense of flying, with the gorge walls rushing past, rather than just the drop. A good option if you want the fear factor of a jump but a longer, more varied ride out of it.
Don't let "easier" fool you. The Zip Line still sends you flying across the gorge at speed, suspended high above the Zambezi — it's just a horizontal thrill rather than a vertical drop, which makes it a genuinely good middle ground for travellers in your group who want the view and the speed without the freefall. It's also, honestly, one of the best vantage points you'll get of the gorge itself.
If you're short on time, picking one is fine — and each delivers a distinct enough experience that it's not really a case of "they're all basically the same thing with a different name":
Want the single biggest adrenaline spike, and you're comfortable with heights? Bungee.
Want the most complete sensory experience — freefall plus flight? Gorge Swing.
Want an incredible view of the gorge with a big adrenaline hit, but prefer to skip the vertical drop? Zip Line.
If you've got a full day around the Falls and the nerve for it, plenty of our guests do more than one — often pairing an activity at the bridge with a half-day rafting trip earlier in the day, or a helicopter flight over the Falls to bookend it from the air.
None of these activities are run by us directly — they're operated at the Victoria Falls Bridge itself — but they slot naturally around a Maano Adventures day. A common combination for guests: half-day rafting in the morning, a bridge activity or two in the afternoon, and a sunset cruise on the Upper Zambezi to unwind and let the adrenaline wear off before dinner.
